t-0-m-oThe PoemYour face still fills my vision when I close my eyes
and I remember July's gentle rain on white wicker.
I yearn for the candle-lit nights of embracing love
And I miss the unforgettable fire in your eyes
the memory of your smile stains my heart with a color I can't describe
midnight blue my thoughts run in circles, with star dropped diamond tears
My heart cannot comprehend this feeling of desolation
as teardrops patter through the broken window of my heart
My eyes cannot abandon the sights of you suffering-fading away
I'm lonely and everywhere I hear the sky screaming your name
A stray breeze carries your scent and a stranger wears your face.
I'm caught up in wisps of your phantom that I want to never leave.
I press flowers onto your grave, a token of affection
One you will never be able to push back... my hands are empty
I fall back against the tomb stone and wonder why you left
It's one of my many questions to which the heavens answer with silence.

So my high school counselor is sort of annoying me...I emailed him the last day of school and told him that instead of graphic design I and II, I wanted to take Shakespeare and Medieval World History. They make you choose what classes you want to take next year after only a couple weeks into school, which is silly. I realized I love Shakespeare and the teacher who teaches it, and I can't take graphic design two without one, so why not take medieval world history, which has always interested me? He emails me back, didn't address my request, and instead told me that AP English and French V are taught during the same time of day, so I had to drop one. I dropped French. He never responded. I realized that dropping French leaves two trimesters unscheduled, so I asked what would replace it. He didn't respond. So I wrote him and suggested filling the space with AP Psychology. He didn't respond. I emailed him again: Nothing. I don't know what to do! That's four of fifteen trimesters that I don't know what the heck I'll be taking next year! Ugh! But on the other half of school...
I graduate from high school in 2010. So obviously college is in the forefront of my mind. I have to visit some places and apply, etc. I want to go to a small (<2000), liberal arts school, where I can be on a first name basis with my teachers and not be just another student in a classroom. I have many different interests, and I want to explore them all before I decide what to major in. I want to study abroad and do internships. Etc. Right now
Kalamazoo College is at the top of my list. I'm almost done with my admission's essay - which I should post on here and ask for feedback - and I still need to do an interview before I apply in October. But obviously acceptance isn't certain, and there are many other good schools I'm looking at...unfortunately they are all out of state and I'm having trouble visiting them. They are, in order of preference,
Beloit in Wisconsin,
Lawrence in Wisconsin,
Knox in Illinois,
Wooster in Ohio,
McDaniel in Maryland,
Goucher in Maryland,
Hiram in Ohio, and
Earlham in Indiana. Yeah...obviously being close to home isn't at the top of my list. But these are suh good schools! They offer you so many opportunities, and really challenge you, while being fun. I think my dad and I might be able to get to Beloit at the end of this month, and maybe my mom can take me to Lawrence in the middle. My dad said he could take me to Wooster, but I'd rather visit schools higher on my list first. I don't know. We'll see. I think I'll just apply to all I can, even if I couldn't visit, and then see what I get accepted to. Obviously I want Kalamazoo to take me, but who knows. They can only take so many kids, and there might be someone even better than me (yes, I know, hard to concieve).

Generalis

The piece of the month is a stunningly beautiful capture by
the amiable and multi-talented Mark Bridgwater, who makes me remember why I was once obsessed with new Zealand for three months and thought I would just die if I didn't move there.

I thought up a little prompt for you guys. The piece could be poetry, song lyrics, prosetry, prose, whatever – all that’s required is that the first and last word of the piece is the same, and the last and first word of every sentence is the same. This sounds confusing, I know, so as a mini example I will show you a song lyric from “Vena Cava” by Angelspit:
“Acid fetish toy in the shape of YOU
Look very beautiful [beautiful]”
In the first sentence the last word is You, but that word also begins the second sentence. Obviously, it’s not retyped because it wouldn’t flow right, but the You certainly carries over – the second sentence really wouldn’t make sense without it. So I don’t want you to retype the word either. When you begin a new sentence, hit enter, please don’t put a period.
My example:
“You are the one I want
In bed, in my heart
Is so confused and abused
To the point that I am made new
In your image, in your hands”
The last two words of the previous sentence may also begin the proceeding sentence because sometimes a single word is just too hard to find. “I want in bed” and “My heart is so confused” obviously makes more sense with the “I” and “My”. Oh, and, yeah, that poem thing sucks, but I wrote it in a minute to be, simply, an example. And it doesn’t fit the criteria of the first word and last word of the piece being the same, but it’s late and I don’t care.
So…good luck!
